Canine Incontinence

Just wanted to share my suggestion for incontinence problems. I have a 14-1/2 year old male neutered Golden named Buttons. I have had tremendous success using Men's Depends underwear -- not diapers but the panties. I cut a slit for his tail.

This brand doesn't have gel or beads to absorb moisture so there is no mess. The diaper keeps the urine away from his skin, so he no longer has odor or irritated skin. I have tried generic brands but they don't work as well. I have tried all the dog products and nothing works like this.

As far as bowel movements, you can decide if it is something you want left in the diaper or to fall out by the size of the slit you make. I also give him 4 Metamucil or generic capsules, never the powder. It has improved the bulk and we don't have the messy accidents anymore.

Nancy's Notes: Fantastic idea, Sharon! I'm glad it's working well for you and Buttons, and I'm sure others will find it helpful for their Golden Oldies, too.
