Working dogs use their incredible canine senses to help us in many ways.
They help keep us safer by detecting explosives, and they protect our borders by detecting drugs and other illegal items being smuggled into the country. Specially trained dogs can help us determine if an accelerant was used to start a fire. Search and rescue dogs can restore missing individuals to their loved ones, or locate people buried in an avalanche or a collapsed building. Golden Retrievers are one of the favorite breeds chosen for this training, as their excellent noses and friendly dispositions make them both successful in their efforts and pleasant to work with.
